Jessie P. Holland, 44, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 08, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a heroic battle with cancer. Jessie was born at Fort Rucker, Alabama and later served in the US Army. He was the Honor Graduate of his AH 64, Apache, and AH1, Cobra, Helicopter Armament and Missile training class, Jessie was a true patriot and proudly served our great country and the freedoms we all cherish. Jessie also graduated from Middle Georgia Technical College with an Associate Degree in Electronics with honors. Jessie and Chako are members of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon and truly appreciate all the prayers and love of our church family and especially their Sunday School Class during our time of spiritual need. Jessie told everyone he will see us again in Heaven and everything was good with the Lord Jesus. Jessie was employed by Southern Power and enjoyed his work at Plant Addison providing service to Georgia. Southern Company Headquarters Leadership, Birmingham Alabama, and Plant Addison, Thomaston, Georgia, senior management and his fellow professionals have been extremely caring and helpful during Jessie's fight with cancer. Words cannot express our family's appreciation to everyone at Southern Company. Jessie was an avid outdoorsman, accomplished fisherman and marksman, volunteering to promote marksmanship competitions with the Marion Road Gun Club, Macon Georgia. He was also an active member of the National Rifle Association. Jessie and his son John were involved in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 222, at John Wesley Methodist Church on Hartley Bridge Road. The family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff of Warner Robins, Georgia for their compassionate and personalized care provided. With the care of hospice, family and friends, Jessie was able to remain at home for the duration of his illness. Survivors include his loving, dedicated wife and friend, Chako Holland; and three sons, John, 9, Samuel, 2, and Matthew one month, Macon; Sharron Sacks, Mother, McDonough, Georgia; John and Betty Holland, Father and Step Mother, Macon; Christie Holland, Sister, Stockbridge Georgia; David Hamm, step-brother, Cobbtown, Georgia; Joy Beckworth (David), step-sister, Lake Butler, Florida; Kathy Grant, Mother in law; Porsha Grant, sister in law, Tehachapi California; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Dr. David Hunter officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
