Jerry Weeks Owen

Jerry Weeks Owen, 80, of Atlanta died Friday, November 1, 2013 of complications from kidney disease. Mr. Owen was born on May 16, 1933 to Nella and Roy C. Owen. He graduated from Cedartown High School and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Mr. Owen was married to the former Ruth Daniel for forty-four years until her death in 2003. He enjoyed a long career with the United States government and after his retirement sold real estate in Atlanta. Known for his outgoing personality, dry sense of humor and love of a good party, he was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Owen is survived by his children, Daniel Andrews Owen (Mary), Nella Owen Macfie (Samuel), Turner Gray Owen (Beth) and William Robert Owen (Sirce); grandchildren, Andrews and Henry Owen, Gray, Brantley and Will Macfie, Jennifer, Camden and Grayson Owen and Charlie Owen; great-grandchild, Michael. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Martin's in the Fields Episcopal Church, 3110 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. The family will receive visitors after the service at the home of Mary and Dan Owen. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Martin's in the Fields Episcopal Church. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
