Jerry Bridges Jr., 57, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with the Reverends Danny Mundy and Mike Forbes officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 11:30 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org.
Jerry was born in Athens, Georgia, on February 19, 1969, to Jerry Bridges Sr. and Helen Carter Bridges. He spent most of his life in Middle Georgia, living in both Macon and Gray.
Jerry was a graduate of Stratford Academy, Class of 1987. He continued his education at Mercer University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta, graduating in 1991, and later graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science.
Jerry devoted his professional life to serving others and his community. He spent 30 years at Bridges Funeral Home and also served as Deputy Coroner for Jones County. He proudly served with the Gray Fire Department, retiring as a Captain after many years of dedicated service. Jerry was an avid photographer. He loved to have fun and loved to entertain people, holding a license for professional firework displays, and Stunt Jumpz, a children's inflatable company, which was set up at many local festivals. At the time of his passing, he was working in inside sales with Blake and Pendleton. He was a member of Park Memorial Methodist Church.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Elisabeth Bridges (Justin Hart) of Lizella; parents, Jerry and Helen Carter Bridges; grandchildren: Gage VanPatton, Ethan VanPatton, Mason Smith, Marley Hart, Emily Hart; special friends: Cat and Fico Arguelles, Merry Forbes, and Julie and Tom McAfee.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Bridges, grandparents: Joe and Jewell Bridges of Hawkinsville, and Dorsey and Mary Carter of Athens.
