Jerrell Lane Brooks

Jerrell Lane Brooks, 87, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Hart's Mortuary, in the Jones County Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, Macon, Georgia.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service for visitation.

Jerrell was born on May 15, 1939, in Macon, Georgia, to the late John and Lillian Brooks. He met the love of his life, Jean Smith, and married her. Jerrell was a hard worker and worked as a Calcine Coordinator at Engelhard. He retired after 45 years.

Jerrell loved his family and loved to travel, especially overseas. While traveling, he loved capturing beautiful moments and scenery by taking photographs. He was a huge John Wayne fan and loved to piddle in his shop. Jerrell will be greatly missed.

Jerrell is survived by his wife, Jean Brooks; his children, Robin Boyd (Winston), Dawn Caraway (James), Dan Smith, Rhonda Chambers, and Jerry Brooks; his ten grandchildren; his thirteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Francis Moser from Kingsport, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, John Brooks, Malcolm Brooks, Douglas Brooks, C.L. Brooks, and Barbara Brooks.
