Or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hayley and Skylar Whitaker College Account at SunTrust Bank. Jennifer is survived by her daughters, Hayley (23) and Skylar (19) Whitaker, in Atlanta, Georgia, and her brother, Jeff Tucker, Atlanta, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Nell Greene Tucker and Jewett Wesley Tucker of Gray, Georgia, and sister of the late Jewett Wesley Tucker Jr., Athens, Georgia. Jennifer is from Gray and Macon, Georgia. She is a graduate of Miller High School and Macon State College where she received a degree in dental hygiene. She practiced in several dental offices for some 17 years. In 1988, she met and married Bart C. Whitaker. In 1988, Jennifer and Bart moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1989, the couple's first child, Hayley, was born on May 2, 1989 in St. Petersburg. In 1991, they moved to Atlanta where Bart managed the Georgia Dome. Their second child, Skylar, was born on December 11, 1993. In 1995-96, in recognition of the Olympics being held in Atlanta, the Whitakers started their own sports travel business and worked with the Atlanta Olympics, the Final Four. The Whitaker's career peaked in 2000 when their company was hired to handle events held in Atlanta that year including the Super Bowl, the Baseball All Star Game. In 2000, the Whitakers took 350 people to the Australian Olympics. One of the Jennifer's largest events, however, was the Masters in Augusta. Jennifer earned a broker's license in 2005 and sold homes in and around the Atlanta area. She loved driving around looking at land. Jennifer felt a calling to go to work as a student mentor in the after school program at the Calvary Church in Dunwoody, GA. Known there as Ms. Jen-Jen, she worked with students in the Chamblee, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs area for over 5 years. She also worked as a barrister at the Starbuck's on Northside Drive in Buckhead for over 5 years and became friends with hundreds of the local patrons. Since July of last year (2012) she'd been working as an office manager at the insurance company H.S.N.O. in Midtown. She was very fond of her new job and enjoyed working there as much as the wonderful people she worked with. Jennifer was a dedicated and loving mother, wife, sister and daughter. She adored her two daughters and has helped them attend college and seek their interests and hobbies all their lives. Known as "Mommy," Jennifer has also been another "mom" to hundreds of children in her life. She had a gift for relating to youth and generously shared it. "Jennifer was a second mother to my children and others in the area, commented Joy Hawkins." "She was a positive person who lit up a room and made everyone comfortable and amused," Joy added. "Her ‘Jenniferisms' from her Macon upbringing always kept us in stitches," added Kate Winne, a neighbor and friend. "I have never seen a stronger woman - in her faith, her convictions and her love of people," stated Jean Nuttall, friend and neighbor. "I know that Jennifer is the happiest person in Heaven, having the chance to meet the God she loves so much, seeing her brother and parents and recently deceased friend, Ann Wallace," said Joy Hawkins, friend and neighbor. Above all else in life, however, Jennifer's personal greatest accomplishment (besides being the mother of two beautiful and smart daughters) was her acceptance of Christ as her Savior in 2006. Jennifer began reading literature and understanding God's word and became a walking example of a Christian woman. As a member of Chamblee United Methodist Church, she participated in community volunteering and service to those in need. Most everyone in the Chamblee-Dunwoody area has attended church or a Bible study with Jennifer as her Christian journey continued until her death this week. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
