Jennifer Ross, of Macon, died peacefully in her home on April 21 after an extended illness. She was 54. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Hart’s on Cherry Street. The family will greet friends following the service.
Jennifer was born and raised in Macon, Georgia, and graduated from Mount de Sales Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing from Macon State College. Jennifer worked as a mortgage broker and later in sales for the beauty industry. Beauty supplies were a lifelong passion. Her hair was always perfect.
Growing up in Macon, Jennifer was the cool older sister with the fashionable clothes and the sporty Mazda RX-7 she named “Harvey.” Those closest to Jennifer will remember riding down back roads in a friend’s convertible, top pulled down and heater cranked up, during Macon winters; they will remember week-long trips to the beach and summer days lounging in sunglasses near a swimming pool; they will remember fancy clothes, tiaras, and designer flip-flops; they will remember cackling laughs, long hugs, and wet kisses on cheeks.
Jennifer lived briefly in Germany, then for several years in Kansas City. But everywhere she lived, she let everyone know where she called home – her car tag read “GA Girl.” Jennifer returned to Macon in 2005 and never moved away again.
From birth, Jennifer’s mother insisted that no one shorten her name. It was not Jen. It was not Jenny. It was Jennifer. Nonetheless, a nickname developed. The origins may be uncertain, but Jennifer was known to most of her family and close friends as “Fred.” When her nephews and nieces were born, Jennifer became “Aunt Fred,” a moniker she adored. Beyond family members, she was called Aunt Fred by dozens and dozens of family friends – both children and adults.
Jennifer loved flowers – they were pretty and colorful and always smelled nice – just like her. When she was in a room it was loud, festive, and filled with love. When Jennifer was a child, her father wrote about her: “Now the world has found a friend.” His words were prophetic because that’s exactly how everyone knew Jennifer.
Today, the world has lost a friend.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Davidson, her stepfather, Billy Davidson; her father, Mike Ross, and her stepmother, Terri Ross. She is survived by her sister, Rachel (Tom) Krause; her stepbrother, Will (Amy) Davidson; her stepsister, Paige (Ken) Garvin; her grandmother, Margie Harrell, her beloved aunts, uncle, and cousins; and nine nieces and nephews: Alden, Madelyn, and Peyton Krause; Win, Web, and Whit Davidson; and Mac, Marshall, and Mason Garvin.
The family would like to give special thanks to her home care nurse, Liz, and the friends in her Stone Edge neighborhood.
