Jeffrey Eugene Yates

Jeffrey Eugene Yates, 58, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will private at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. To honor Jeff, the family requests that everyone wear bright colored attire, polo shirts, or UGA attire to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Karlee’s and Karsyn’s college fund, reach out to the family for additional information.

Son of the late Jack Lamar Yates, Sr. and Shirley Cole, Jeff was born September 24, 1965, in Macon, Georgia, and was a graduate of Southwest High School. He worked in the car business for many years; if you needed a car, he was your man!

Jeff was often found on the golf course or at the ball field.  Jeff's greatest joy came from watching his girls play softball, an activity that brought him immeasurable pride.

As a devoted and avid fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs, his spirit and enthusiasm for his team radiated infectiously. Jeff's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the ability to live in each moment. He will be deeply missed, leaving behind a treasure of memories in the hearts of those he touched.

Jeff is survived by his loving daughters, Kailee Yates Merrell (Josh) of Macon, Georgia, Kaicee Yates Mills (Dillon) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Karlee Shai Yates of Macon, Georgia, and Karsyn Grace Yates of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren: Layton, Lawson, Lexton, Grayson, and Everly Grace; mother of his children, Tracey Yates of Macon, Georgia; sisters, Teresa Tompkins and Rhonda Smith, both of Byron, Georgia; brother, Jack “Smokey” Yates, Jr. (Stephanie) of Macon, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
