Roswell

Jeffrey Nance Pennington, 46, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on June 7, 2025, leaving behind a wide circle of family, friends, and stories that will be told for years to come.

Born in Rome, Georgia, to Sara Nance Pennington and Jack Wayne Pennington, Jeff lived with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He was an outdoorsman through and through.  Some of his happiest days were spent casting a line on the water, walking the woods of the family farm, or cheering on the Bulldogs from Sanford Stadium.

Jeff graduated high school from Christchurch School in Virginia, where he began to overcome early academic challenges that shaped his resilience and character.  He was the kind of Student Council President that fought for free desserts and half school days on Fridays!  With determination, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, proudly continuing a family tradition.  Soon after, Jeff built his own insurance business from the ground up — a true reflection of his grit, independence, and commitment to helping others.  Jeff was never one to let obstacles define him.

He was a dedicated father who adored watching his sons’ John and Thomas compete in their sports’ games.  Simple evenings hanging out on the sofa with his boys while watching the Braves were absolute highlights, especially if chocolate ice cream was included!

Jeff was a man who didn’t just love life—he lived it, fully and loudly. He loved a good party, had a voice that could fill a room, and a charm that made fast friends out of strangers.

Beneath the jokes and the laughter, Jeff carried a tender heart and knew firsthand how heavy life could feel.  He reminds all of us that even the brightest of lights carry shadows – and that we must find the courage to face those shadows with honesty and compassion, in ourselves and in each other.

Jeff is survived by his sons, John and Thomas Pennington of Marietta, GA; his mother, Sara Pennington of Houston, TX; his father, Jack, and stepmother, Joan Pennington of Gray, GA; his sister, Natalie Pennington and his nephews, Antonio IV, Mateo, and Nico Castellanos of Katy, TX; his devoted girlfriend, Cristi Murray of Roswell, GA; and his many cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.  A lunch reception and visitation will follow.  Please come with memories and stories to share!
