Jeff was born on May 26, 1974, in Gainesville, Florida, and graduated from Pine View High School in Sarasota, Florida, in 1991 and Emory University in 1995. He went on to have a 23-year career at GEICO.

Jeff raced BMX bikes throughout the 90’s and claimed a big win in his pro class at National Bicycle League’s 1997 Championship race.

Jeff could ride anything with two wheels. He enjoyed road, dirt, and mountain bikes. His quick wit and the ability to tell a great story, made him a friend to many. His competitive spirit was matched by his love for sports, faithfully supporting the Florida Gators amidst a family of Georgia Bulldog fans, and cheering on Atlanta United Soccer.

Jeff’s heart found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time at the dog park.  He also loved visiting the North Georgia and North Carolina mountains.

Above all, Jeff treasured his family and held a special place in his heart for his granddaughters. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a kind soul who lived life with enthusiasm and grace.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Padgett Dein. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Moore; two daughters, Hannah Theus (Timothy) of Macon, and Ellie Pennybacker (Bradley) of Athens, Georgia; granddaughters, Riley Theus and Everly Theus; father, Robert Warren Dein (Priscilla) of Brevard, North Carolina; uncle, Duane Padgett (Amy) of Miami, Florida; aunt, June Slusser (George) of Brevard, North Carolina; and numerous cousins.
