Jeffrey Cameron Burne, 61, of Macon, passed away March 20, 2018. Dr. Burne was a professor of biology and microbiology at Middle Georgia State University for 27 years. He earned his PhD from University of Arizona. Dr. Burne was an entomologist, known as the "Bug Man". He displayed his extensive insect collection at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, as well as presentations at local schools. He owned one of the largest beetle collections in the state. He traveled all over the Americas collecting beetles. Dr. Burne discovered a local beetle which bears his name, Hypothyce Burnei. He also loved ready mystery novels. Dr. Burne is predeceased by his mother, Margaret "Peg" deBeaubien Burne. Dr. Burne is survived by his wife, Norma Burne of Macon; children, Alondra Burne and Raul Burne, both of Macon; brother Jonathan Burne (Bernadette) of Eagle, Michigan; father, Frederick Burne (Karen) of Emporium, Pennsylvania; cousin, Gigi Ortwein (Ricky) of Cortez, Florida and their daughter, Jade.
