Jean Etheridge Chafin, of Macon, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 2PM, at Snow Hill Cemetery in Ivey, GA, with the Reverend Cile Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 24, 2014, from 3PM until 7PM, at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Macon Volunteer Clinic, 376 Rogers Ave, c/o the Dental Clinic, Macon, GA 31204 or to the Macon Outreach at Mulberry, 267 First Street, Macon, GA 31201. Mrs. Chafin was preceded in death by her parents, James N. and Annie Beck Etheridge, by her husband of 39 years, Bernice "BC" DeWitt Chafin, Sr., her son, Chip Chafin, two sisters, Dorothy E. Cox of NC and Peggy E. Malone Johnson of Milledgeville, GA. She was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Chafin was a certified Dental Assistant for many years. She was a devoted volunteer as the first dental assistant in the Dental Clinic of the Macon Volunteer Clinic since 2005. Mrs. Chafin also was a volunteer with Hospice of Central GA. Her love for traveling began with a trip to Madrid, Spain and Paris, France with her grandson Josh. A member of Security Bank and Heritage Travel Club, her travels included several trips to California and the New England States, trips to the French Riviera, including Monaco, Cannes, Monte Carlo and Nice. Her latest trip was to Australia and New Zealand accompanied by her daughter Marty. She was also an avid bird watcher. Survivors: Daughter, Marty Chafin (Kathy Lewis) of Atlanta, GA; Grandson, Josh Chafin (fiancé Becky and daughter Emma Grace) of Kennesaw, GA; Daughter-in- law, Bonnie Chafin of Dry Branch, GA; Sister, Jewel Taylor of Loganville, GA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
