Joshua "Jay" Survant Jr, a longtime resident of Macon, passed away on November 21, 2008 at the age of 75. Mr Survant, born in Louisville, Kentucky, was the son of the late Margaret Puckett Survant and the late Joshua Survant, Sr. He relocated to Macon as a result of a job transfer. He purchased the Dairy Queen on Forsyth Road in 1976 and ran the store for 13 years, enabling him to meet local businessmen and families who became good friends. He retired in 1989 and enjoyed traveling and playing golf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Witt Survant and brother, Robert Survant.
Mr. Survant is survived by his children, Vicki Survant Mann and her husband, Tim, of Niceville, Florida, B.J. Survant of Macon, Stacy Survant Mancin and her husband, Jay, of Gainesville, Georgia, and Amy Survant Davies and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta; 9 grandchildren; and his well loved boxer dog, Sugar.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00PM Thursday, December 4, 2008, in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola on Peake Rd with Dr. Laudis Lanford officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Rocky's boxer rescue (www.rockysboxerrescue.org) or to a charity of the donor's choice. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
