Jason Perkins Hencely, 51, of Jones County, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Jason was born November 16, 1972. He grew up as an avid hunter and fisherman. He acquired many nicknames such as “Big Cat”, “Fishy”, and “Catfish”, as well as many others. He loved to watch the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He dedicated twenty years of service to Preston Testing, then the last ten years to Terracon, during all of which he was a consulting engineer. He was a great friend with a huge personality, and a faithful and loving son and husband. He will be greatly missed by many.
Jason is survived by his wife of 12 years, Tracey Ross Hencely; father, Wiley Benjamin Hencely, Jr.; mother, Loretta Hencely; uncles and aunts, Robert Wayne Hencely (Dee); Marcia Sikes (Darrell) and Betty Lorraine Patten; cousins, Stephanie Scott (Randy), Tommy Cooler, Steve Cooler (Susie), Lynne Patten Golden (Joe), Lisa Patten Fitzgerald, Ben Sikes, and Zack Sikes; and furbaby, Bailey Star Hencely.
Jason is preceded in death by his stepmother, June Hencely; aunt, Lowanna Cooler; uncles, Buddy Cooler and Clifton Patten; and furbaby, Jasmine.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Emory Hospital, Central Georgia Cancer Care, and the Ninth-Floor staff at Atrium Navicent Health for all their excellent care.
