Janis Collins Sutton

Janis Collins Sutton, 84, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.  The family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 250 Eagle Drive, Macon, Georgia 31211.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Daughter of the late Alver Giles Collins and Gladys Benson Collins, Janis was born on December 5, 1940, in Hawkinsville, Georgia.  She worked as a Radio Traffic Director for WMAZ for 20 years and later worked in accounts payable at Bridgeman Mediquip for 13 years.   Her passion for music, dancing, and having fun was infectious, and she had an unparalleled ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. Janis was an avid reader and especially loved completing puzzles.

Janis will be remembered for her exceptional sense of humor which brought laughter to all around her. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making delicious meals for her family.  She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and loved a good afternoon nap

Janis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 31 years, Harold “Hal” Sutton of Macon; children: , Robin Duffey (Benny) of Macon, Sheila Wilford (Steve) of Macon, Chris Bridgeman (Andrea) of Zebulon, Georgia, Tracy Archer of Macon, and Richard Bridgeman (Michelle) of Macon; grandchildren: Apryl Lamb of Forsyth, Raymond Nipper (Karen) of Gray, Kimberly Jade Lane (Caimen) of Williamson, Georgia, Brianna Twilley (Josh) of Williamson, Georgia, Kristyn Williams of Macon, Jacob Mikus (Savannah) of Freeport, Florida, Julia Bridgeman of Athens, Georgia, and Jonah Bridgeman of Macon; eleven great grandchildren; and brother, Roger Collins of Chauncey, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her grandsons, Dustyn Archer and Michael Lamb; sister, Delores Harper; and son-in-law, Ray Nipper.
