Janet Miller Bowden

Janet Bowden, 83, of Gray, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026. A graveside service at Cedar Ridge Cemetery will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 am with Reverend Ricky Feagin officiating. Her family will host a time for visitation at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society are encouraged.

Janet Miller Bowden was born November 1, 1942, in Macon to the late Guy and Nellie Miller. She loved reading and retired as a textbook manager with Barnes and Noble. Janet also enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. Known affectionately to most as “Mama Net”, she was loved by all who had the honor to know her. Janet had previously volunteered at Atrium Health Baldwin. Her family will certainly miss time spent and laughs shared with her.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Charles Bowden; and siblings, Roy Miller; Sadie Bledsoe; Mike Miller; and Ray Miller. She is survived by her children, Cherie Arrington (Craig); Stacie Bowden; Draa Bowden (Amy); and Lori Walker (Eric); grandchildren, Destiny Horton (Dustin); Gage Arrington (Zoe); Ashlee Arrington; Tyler Bowden; Emily Walker; a great grandchild, Bentley Arrington; a sister, Gerry Glenn (Vernon); numerous nieces and nephews; and a beloved grand dog, Tracker.
