Janelle Thornton

Janelle Thornton, 82, of Gray, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021.  A memorial service will be held Monday, October 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Hart’s Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Dorriety officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.

Daughter of the late Millard E. and Myrtle Waits Henderson, Janelle married Stan Thornton in 1958.  The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage February of this year.   Janelle enjoyed crafting and spending time with family.  She was known as “Mimi” and was the rock of her family.  She was a member and elder of St. Andrews Christian Church of Macon.

Janelle is survived by her husband, Stan Thornton of Gray; sons, Tim Thornton of Gray and Chris Thornton (Belinda) of Macon; grandchildren, Jennifer Morris (Tony) of Gray, Jamie Thornton of Gray, Madison Hughes, McKenzie Rogers of Gray, Nikki Stephens of Macon, Melisa Thompson (Nick) of Jackson, Georgia, Jamie Stephens (Crystal) of Jesup, Georgia and Doug Turner (Stacey) of Macon; great grandchildren, Kyler Morris of Gray, Desirae Willis, Mylee Willis, and Jr. Willis all of Macon, Andrew McCary, Alex McCary, and Amelia Thompson, all of Jackson, Leanna Powell of Macon, Bentley and Brooklyn Turner of Macon, Ciara, Bryce, and Tatum Stephens of Gray; and longtime best friend, Christy Foskey and family of Gray.
