Mrs. Jane Storey Swift, age 75, of Dry Branch, GA, passed away May 17, 2011. She was born in Lifsey Springs, GA to the late Bill Storey and Effie Jimmerson Storey. She served as an officer and a nurse in the United States Navy. She was an operating room nurse for 49 years, retiring as a supervisor from the VA Hospital in Dublin. She was a member and former president of the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Swift was a long-time member of Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon. In her younger years, she and her family attended Swift Creek Methodist Church in Macon where she played the piano and organ. She was a woman of faith, the backbone of her family and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Swift. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Denise and Richard Burrell of Zebulon, Jimmy and Valerie Swift of Macon, William Swift and Kem Swift of Gray, Parrish and Kristie Swift of Molena and Debbie and Jackie Mullis of Perry; grandchildren: AnnaLeigh Horton and husband Shane, Blake Burrell, Maddie, Sarah, Emily and Gracie Swift, Kaci Swift, Hallie, Crosley, Hampden and Caden Swift, Josh, Zach and Jackson Mullis; great-granddaughter: Raegan Horton; brother: George Ronny Storey of NC; great-aunt: Elsie Hamlett of Molena; niece: Wanda Baldwin of NC; nephew: Ricky Storey of NC; special friends: Sara Ninan, Helen and Billy Smith and Susan Beacham of Dublin, Donald and Diane Jimmerson of Thomaston and Mariam Storey of Dalton; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, May 19, 7-9 p.m. at Harts Mortuary in Macon. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m. in Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon. Dr. Tim McCoy and Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. Mrs. Swift will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie-in-state. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Fincher Memorial Cemetery, Hwy. 109, Zebulon with Rev. Kyle Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Macon-Bibb Co. Special Olympics, 3326 Ocmulgee E. Blvd., Macon, GA 31217 in memory of Mrs. Swift. Harts Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
