Dr. James Warren Ware, III, age 86, passed away August 4, 2020, in Macon, Georgia. Dr. Ware was born in Euharlee, Georgia to the late James Warren Ware, Jr. and Doris Nelson Ware, but lived most of his growing-up years in Rome, Georgia. He is survived by his loving wife, Susie Clanton Ware; their children, Elizabeth Ware Hardin (Phillip), Macon, Georgia, Pamela Ware, Diamondhead, Mississippi, and John Ware (Amy), Carrollton, Georgia; two granddaughters, Anna Kate and Ellen Ware; his younger brother Paul N. Ware (Joan), Rome, Georgia; sister-in-law Anne Clanton Chandler (Robert); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Dr. Ware earned the Bachelor of Science Degree from Shorter College in Rome and then graduated from Emory University in Atlanta in 1960 where he earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree. He then served as a dentist in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Ware (Jim) met his wife Susie at Shorter College, and on August 29, 2020, they would have been married for 61 years. They lived most of their married life in Trion, Georgia, where Jim had his dental practice until retiring from full-time dentistry in 2008. He continued to practice part-time, filling in for area dentists until 2016 when he fully retired. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Trion where he served numerous terms as deacon, was a Sunday School teacher, and volunteered for many community outreach projects. Jim also traveled to Jamaica as part of a missionary team, providing free dental care for residents there.
Jim and Susie moved to Carlyle Place in Macon, April 2019, to be nearer family.
For many years Jim enjoyed all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping and always kept busy with woodworking projects. He also enjoyed cutting wood for their fireplace—and for neighbors and other family members. He loved any kind of vehicle from his first bicycle to cars, boats, and airplanes. Jim was also a pilot and flew his private plane for many years.
Being an active member of the Summerville-Trion Rotary Club for over 55 years was one of his proudest accomplishments, and he was honored to have been named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club. Those who knew and loved Jim cherish memories of his kindness, generosity, gentleness, and his love of telling stories, always with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his lips.
Because of current Covid-19 restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Trion, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Trion First Baptist Church.
Hart’s at the Cupola, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 6324 Peake Rd, Macon, GA 31210 has charge of the arrangements.
