MACON- James E. Tyler 91 died Saturday, July 30, 2011. Mr. Tyler was born June 9, 1920 in Macon to Judge and Mamie Tyler. Funeral services will be Tuesday August 2 at 11:00 at Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Tyler was the former owner and operator of Gem Cleaners. He was a WWII veteran, Square dance caller and avid baseball fan. As a young man Jim pitched for several minor league teams and went on to compete in a senior league well into his eighties. He never lost his love for the game. Mr. Tyler was predeceased by Evelyn, his wife of 60 years, and his sister, Betty Saunders. Survivors: his children Pat Castle(Jack) and Earl Tyler(Flo Hopkins); six grandchildren, Denise Baston, Jason Sterling, Jennifer Ramsey, Kristin Strickland, David Daniels, Wes Daniels; four great-grandchildren, Cam Tidwell, Haley Tidwell, Zachary Williams, Elliot Daniels; brothers, John Tyler and Sam Tyler; sister Jo Horne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road Macon, Ga. 31210. Friends may sign the online register at www.hartsmort.com.
