James "Hurley" Smith

Mr. James Hurley Smith, Sr., 86, of Jones County, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.  Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Hurley was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in Macon, Georgia, and proudly served for four years in the U.S. Navy.  He retired from Georgia Power after having worked there for over 25 years.  Hurley was an avid golfer and a great dancer.  One of his favorite things was vacationing at the beach with his family.

Hurley is preceded in death by his son, James “Jim” Hurley Smith, Jr.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kaye A. Smith; son, Charles “Jeff” Jeffery Smith; daughter-in-law, Allyson Smith; grandchildren, Callie Adams (Brett), Drew Smith (Kelli), Hannah Smith, Molly Smith, and Anslee Smith; and five great-grandchildren.
