James O. Puckett

James O. Puckett, 91, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, with Reverend Russell Creswell officiating. A second funeral service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Annie Mary Baptist Church, 327 State Hwy 11, Monroe, GA 30655, with burial following in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tattnall Square Baptist Church, 4925 Zebulon Road, Macon GA 31210.

Mr. Puckett was born on November 22, 1933, in Priceville, Kentucky to the late Hershel Lovelace Puckett and Sylvia Kessinger Puckett.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  Following his military service, he continued his education at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and subsequently began a career with Brown and Williamson while still a college student. He relocated to Macon in 1982 and concluded his professional journey with retirement in 1989. He was known for handling estate sales through Central Georgia Estate Sales, with his partner, Charles Day.

Mr. Puckett was a longtime member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church since 1982, where he made many lifelong friendships and shared his love for faith. He was actively involved with the homebound ministry, youth program, and the Sunday School program. He was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and he always enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby.

Mr. Puckett is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn Woodruff Puckett of Macon; daughter, Jennifer Kay Rayhill of Macon; son, Michael Puckett (Christy) of Oxford, Georgia; grandchildren: Alex Puckett, Matthew Puckett, Carson Puckett, and Joy Alcarez (Austin); great grandchild, Aurora Rose “Rosie” Alcarez; and nieces and nephews: Scott Young (Sasha), Dale Young (Sheila), Alisa Stinson, and Kellie Nance.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by his siblings, Rebecca Young and Steven Puckett.
