Macon- James W. Peano, Sr., born in Marquette, Michigan, died on Thursday, July 21, 2011 after battling cancer. The family will greet friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00PM at Real Life Church on Gray Highway in Macon with Pastor Bo Turner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideons Memorial Bible Fund, P. O. Box 95, Gray, Georgia 31032. Mr. Peano graduated from Marquette County Senior High School in 1965. He retired from the United States Army in 1988, after joining in 1968 at the age of 21. Tours of duty included Korea in 1968, Vietnam in 1969-1970, and several tours to Germany. For the last eight years, Mr. Peano was employed by Allstate Insurance in the office of David McEver in Macon. Mr. Peano was predeceased by his parents, Mr. Norbert C. Peano and Mrs. Shirley I. Peano, of Marquette, Michigan. Mr. Peano is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Giesela Peano; sons, Steven R. Peano of Jacksonville, Florida and James W. Peano, Jr. of Portsmouth, Ohio; daughter, Angela Peano of Mobile, Alabama; brother, David Peano of Marquette, Michigan; six nieces and two nephews.
