James Richard Oscar, Sr.

Macon, GA-James Richard Oscar, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. He came to Macon with his family in 1973 to work for Gilead Christian Academy. He retired from the Air National Guard in 1990 after 26 years of service. He was also owner of The Pit Stop automotive repair shop for 12 years until he retired in 2006. Jim was always willing to help anyone in need, and he always had a smile for everyone. His favorite verse was Proverbs 24:13 "My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste." His memory will be cherished by his wife, Gloria Oscar, his four children: Rich Oscar (Beth Oscar), Chrissi Oscar, Melissa Oscar, Victoria Oscar, grandchildren: Richie Oscar (Kaitlyn Oscar), Thomas Oscar, Becca Oscar, Cayden Oscar, Tanner Stiner, four sisters: Carol Horton, Cathy Stewart, Pat Gentry, and Darlene Chipman, many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at Gilead Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on July 23, 2016. Visitation will be held with the family after the service.
