James Gregg Nixon was born in Atlanta on October 27, 1962. He died peacefully at home on January 1, 2021. He was a graduate of First Presbyterian Day School, attended Valdosta State College, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order, and a proud graduate of the University of Georgia. Gregg was an avid golfer; he loved all sports, especially UGA football. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Murray Ashley Nixon; father, Herbert Gyles Nixon, Jr.; grandparents, James E. Sr. and Edna S. Brown, and Marion Nixon; aunts and uncles, Carolyn McCord Anderson, Robert Augustus McCord III, and James E. Brown, Jr.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Tiffany Taylor Nixon; mother, Virginia Brown Cutler; sister, Ginger Mixon (Jeff); brother, Matt Nixon (Nicole); uncle, Murray S. Brown; stepchildren, Taylor, Caroline, and Landon Buffington; nieces and nephews, Henry Mixon, Sarah Mixon, Reece Nixon, and Luke Nixon; and cousins, Colyar McCord Persons (Peter) and family, and Robert A. McCord IV (Susan Marie) and family.
Due to precautions taken for COVID-19, Tiffany will greet friends on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 5-7pm at Hart’s at the Cupola. Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery.
