James Edward Muse, Iii

James Edward Muse, III passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born October 7, 1936 in Pinehurst, North Carolina to the late James Edward and Helen Frye Muse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katie Childress and Alma Taylor, and brother, Charles A. Muse, and father-in-law, Bruce B. Bailey.

Jim grew up in Robbins, North Carolina and graduated from Elise High School. Following high school, he served 4 years with the United States Navy. He then went on and obtained his BS degree from Wake Forest University.

After graduation, Jim served as head golf professional at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1964 he joined New York Life Insurance Company. He obtained the designations of CLU and ChFC. After 34 years, he retired as Managing Partner of the Central Georgia Office.

Jim was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and the Wil Platt Sunday School class. An avid fisherman and gardener, his main focus in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Genene Bailey Muse, a daughter, Melany Muse Grant and husband, Dean of Milledgeville, a son, Edward Bruce Muse, and wife, Molly of Macon, four grandchildren, Harrison and Bailey Grant and Beck and Matt Muse, a brother, Cameron V. Muse and wife, Jenny, and several nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law, Gwen Valley Bailey.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 4 from 2:00-3:00 at Vineville Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow visitation at 3:00 at the church. Graveside service will be Saturday, August 6 at 2:00 at Jack's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Burnsville, North Carolina.
