James Grayson Middleton, 88, of Carlyle Place, a dear father, brother, and grandfather, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201, from 2:00-3:00PM on Saturday, December 22, 2012, followed by a memorial service at 3:00PM with the Reverend Chip Miller officiating. The family will have a private graveside service and can be contacted care of Beth Middleton Menefee. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Middleton, a veteran of the Navy, was training as a carrier pilot when World War II ended. He had a management career in textiles with Burlington Industries and the Bibb Company and later served as church administrator at First Presbyterian Church, where he was also a member, trustee, and former elder. He was originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, but had resided in Macon since 1973. He rejoins his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Blalock Middleton, who preceded him to Heaven in 2002. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and John Clayton of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jay Menefee of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Martha Middleton of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Amy Menefee Payne of Alexandria, Virginia; Ross Middleton of Miami, Florida; Shelby Middleton Rollins of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Aiden, Eli, and Will Middleton of Miami, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
