Macon-James Franklin Lumpkin, 88, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Morningside Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:30pm in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Richard Forrester officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 277 MLK Jr. Blvd, Suite 201, Macon, GA 31201 or Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210. Mr. Lumpkin was the son of the late George B. Lumpkin and Martha Wallace Lumpkin. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Millican, Wallace Lumpkin, and Joseph Lumpkin. A lifelong resident of Macon, Mr. Lumpkin retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII where he was a recipient of a Purple Heart medal. He was a member of Log Cabin Baptist Church and Tattnall Square Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen Roberts Lumpkin of Macon; son, Jim Lumpkin (Donna Argo Lumpkin) of Macon; daughter, Deborah Conner (Paul) of Statesboro; and four grandchildren, Anderson Lumpkin of Macon, Aaron Conner (Kasey), Brent Conner (Nanci), and Matt Conner all of Statesboro.
