Culloden-James Paul "JP" Carter, 66, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Funeral services will be 2:00PM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola with the Reverend Joe McDaniel and Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Flowers accepted, or donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia, 277 MLK Jr. Blvd. W, Macon, Georgia 31201. JP graduated from Lanier High School in 1963 where he lettered in football. For many years, he was a youth sports coach. He was a dedicated employee of Eastside Lumber for 35 years and since 1996, he was the property manager at the Oxford Farm in Culloden, Georgia. JP loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. He was a good family man, devoted to his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, James S. Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Foster Carter of Culloden, Georgia; four children, Chris Hendrix of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Michael Carter (Ashley) of Atlanta, Ken Hendrix of Macon, and Jeffrey Carter of Savannah; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hendrix, Noah Hendrix, and Nicole Hendrix; mother, Effie Carter of Macon; brother, Ronnie Carter (Brenda) of Macon; sister, Deborah Grimes (Chuck) of Macon; nieces and nephews, Ainsley Carter of Macon, Jonathon Gilbert (Jenni) of Macon, and Alexander Gilbert of Macon.
