James "Jim" Easton

James Fredrick Easton, 86, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026. A memorial service will be held at Monday, August 17th at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

James was born in Wellsville, New York, on June 4, 1940, to the late Everett Selvanis Easton and Ruth McConnell Easton. He later moved to Pennsylvania and graduated from Bradford High School in 1959.

Following high school, James proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years in the Air Force Band. During his service, he was eventually stationed at Robins Air Force Base. After leaving the military, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked as a loan officer for Liberty Loan Corporation. His career with Liberty Loan eventually brought him to Macon, Georgia.

Family was very important to James. He adopted his son, Christopher, when Christopher was less than a year old, and later welcomed two more children, Kimberley and Jeffery.

Music was a lifelong passion for James. After moving to Macon in 1997, he became a member of the Middle Georgia Concert Band, where he enjoyed playing the trumpet and baritone horn. He also played with the Jubalaires, and the Milledgeville Symphony. He shared his love of music with the Ingleside Baptist Church orchestra. He loved photography and took pictures of weddings and other special occasions. In his free time, he enjoyed playing games on his iPad, playing cards with friends and riding his John Deere lawn mower. Earlier in life, he especially enjoyed landscaping and taking pride in his yard.

James will be remembered for his love of family, music, and the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Easton is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joann Henderson Easton of Macon; son, Jeffery Easton of Sacramento, California; daughter, Kimberly Easton of Woodstock Georgia; stepson, Stephen Ethridge of Sandy Springs, Georgia; stepdaughter, Julie Kimpling (Brad) of Milledgeville, Georgia; grandchildren: Micheal Easton (Brianna), Christy Grandevoir (Kyle), Alex Easton and Janna Easton; step grandchildren: Shannon Ethridge, Kristen Ribas (Gabe), Emily Kimpling, Carly Kimpling, Justin Sellers, and Abby Ethridge; sister: Carrie Pattison of Maryland.
