James Davis Fountain, Jr.

James Davis Fountain, Jr., 87, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Baxter Hurley officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour before the service.  Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Forest Hill Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.

James was born on April 8, 1937, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late James Davis, Sr. And Phyllis Fountain.  He graduated from Fort Valley High School.  James attended University of Georgia for four years and studied Accounting and Business Administration.  He met his future wife, Jean Myrick, in January of 1965, and they were married on August 29, 1965. James was an accountant for years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Forest Hill Church and the Grace Bible Class. He loved camping and traveling the world with his wife, Jean; and going to South America, St. Petersburg, Russia, Egypt, and Italy.  He loved his family, and he will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his wife, Jean Myrick Fountain; his son, Jay Fountain (Beth) of Lilburn, Georgia; his two grandsons, Charlie Fountain of Birmingham, Alabama; and Josh Fountain of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his nephew, Phillip Alan Fountain, Jr.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Phillip Alan Fountain, Sr.
