James “Jim” Dewitt

James “Jim” DeWitt, 61, of Macon, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Georgia Fallen Firefighters Association, 11 Fox Meadow Ct., Euharlee, GA 30120.

Jim is the son of the late Dr. William Thomas and Dorothy O’Neal DeWitt. He graduated from Ware County High School and attended Walter F. George Law School at Mercer University. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Valdosta State College. He was a veracious reader, tech savvy and enjoyed computers. Jim adored his family, especially, his granddaughter.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Swann DeWitt of Macon; children, William (Susanna) Thomas DeWitt, II of Macon, Taylor Leigh DeWitt, of Macon, and Anna Hope DeWitt; granddaughter, Bailey Grace DeWitt; brother, Mark (Sissy) DeWitt of Waycross, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
