James Bascom Carlisle

Macon- James Bascom Carlisle, 78, of 198 Emerald Park Drive, died Sunday, November 15, 2009. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 2:00PM at Fort Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Lee Bennett officiating. The family may be contacted at the residence and will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4462 Houston Avenue, Macon, GA 31206. Mr. Carlisle, son of the late Howard Whitfield Carlisle and the late Abbie Lou Lacey Carlisle, was born on September 21, 1931. He was a former member of East Macon United Methodist Church and a present member of Gray United Methodist Church. Mr. Carlisle was predeceased by his brothers, Dwight Carlisle and W. H. Carlisle, sister, Iva Jane Carlisle-Langford, and daughters, Teresa Carlisle and Alisha Edwards. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict and was retired from Ford and Gantt Exterminators. Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carlisle of Macon; son, Keith (Deby) Carlisle of Macon; stepdaughter, Pat (Larry) Floyd of Jeffersonville; stepson, Mercer (Linda) Elkins of Macon; sister, Lafaye Cruise of California; stepsister, Elizabeth Faulkner of Dahlonega; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
