James C. "J.C." Dooley

James C. “J.C.” Dooley, Sr., age 82 of Lizella, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola with Pastor Chris Barnard and Reverend Lanny Earley officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

J.C. was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, on June 27, 1943, to the late Hoyt Clifton Dooley and Katie Drew Adkisson Dooley. He was a faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where he served many years as a deacon and 25 years as assistant treasurer. In recognition of his longstanding and devoted service, he was recently honored as Deacon Emiritus. His faith and commitment to his church family were central to his life.

He was actively involved with the Miracle League of Macon, generously giving his time and resources to bring joy to others. J.C. was a devoted fan of Georgia Tech and the New York Yankees and could always be counted on to follow his favorite teams. In quieter moments, he enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. He was also an avid coin collector.

Above all else, J.C. cherished his family. He loved talking about his grandchildren to everyone he met and found his greatest happiness in attending their sporting events and cheering them on.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Glynda Hadden Dooley of Lizella; son, Jimmy Dooley (Dee Ann) of Bolingbroke, Georgia; Ginger Dooley Morton (Danny) of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren: Anna Antley (Ian) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jacob Dooley (Fagan) of Macon, Georgia; Alex Morton of Macon, Georgia;, and Ashleigh Morton Shouse (Andrew) of Fort Valley, Georgia; siblings: Frank Dooley (Mary Elizabeth) of Deep Gap, North Carolina, Lillian Tanner of Milledgeville, Georgia, Bobbie Davidson of Milledgeville, Georgia, Richard Dooley (Kathy) of Juliette, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his brother, Clifton Dooley.
