James Carter Bryant, 83, of Gray passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradley Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Jimmy was born September 22, 1937 in Buckhead, Georgia to the late Paul and Julia Bryant. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Patricia S. Bryant; one daughter, Kim Claxton (Jimmy) of Danville, Georgia; one son, Greg Bryant of Warner Robins, Georgia; three grandsons, and one granddaughter; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jimmy proudly served his country for three years in the Navy, twenty-two years in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic; he then worked as a civil servant for another twenty years. He was very outspoken and always spoke the truth. Jimmy was a sports enthusiast; he loved the Atlanta Braves and the Manchester United Soccer team. He enjoyed running and took part in the 4th of July Peachtree Road Race. Jimmy took first place one year in the Iron Man Competition and was the Georgia State Horseshoe Champion. He had a large knife collection and enjoyed watching the “Knife” channel on TV. Jimmy enjoyed traveling with his wife, going to State Parks, and listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither’s.
