James Thomas Avery

James Thomas “Jimmy” Avery, age 90, of Macon, Georgia, passed away with family by his side at home on Friday, May 3, 2024.  He was born April 6, 1934, the son of the late Mr. Anderson Eugene “Buck” and Mrs. Annie Belle Avery.

The family will receive friends at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Graveside funeral services will be at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida 33511, Friday, May 10, 2024 at 3:00pm, with the Reverend William Cable officiating, with a viewing in the chapel one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Clayton Boso, Calvin Avery, Max Meeks, Raymond Hathaway, Matthew Hathaway, and Jesse Hathaway.

Mr. Avery was a former maintenance mechanic in the mining industry at Mosaic (formerly IMC) in Mulberry, Florida for many years. He was a loving father and a hard worker.  His favorite thing to do was to sit in his car and listen to Willie’s Road House on SXM.  He is greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Avery is preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Ann Avery.  His survivors include his two sons, Thomas E. Avery of Douglas, Georgia and James C. Avery of Macon, Georgia; three daughters, Patty Boso of Old Towne, Florida, Anna Meeks (Max) of Douglas, and Donna Morgan of Tampa, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Thomas James Avery, Melissa Lynn Avery, Calvin Eugene Avery, Clayton Lee Boso, Jamie Marie Fields, Raymond Edward Hathaway, Matthew Wayne Hathaway, Jesse James Hathaway, Ashleigh Ann Maupin, Cody William Morgan, Corey Jacob Morgan, Colt Hayden Morgan, Amy Jo Morgan, and Casey Morgan; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
