James "Peewee" Arthur Peacock

James A. Peacock ("PeeWee"), age 91, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Born in Eastman, Georgia he graduated from Dodge County High School in 1938. He had a love of baseball and played for a semi-pro league in the 1930s and 1940s. After moving to Macon in 1953, Mr. Peacock worked for Durham Life Insurance Company before working in the automotive industry. He was a salesman at several dealerships, including Garland Pugh, Riverside Ford and Huckabee for many years until his retirement. He was a long-time member and Deacon at Macon Evangelistic Church and currently attended First Evangelical Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Peacock and is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Alma Faustine Rogers Peacock; two sons, Ronny (Teresa) Peacock and Mickey (Brenda) Peacock, both of Lizella; grandchildren Roger Peacock and Chad (Holly) Peacock, also of Lizella; Jamie (Robyn) Peacock of Eagle River, Alaska; and Tori Peacock of Macon; great-grandchildren Anthony Peacock, Dylan Peacock, and Tori Hooper, all of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter-in-law Lindy Peacock of Macon, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Hart's at The Cupola. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Eastman, Georgia at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pastor Tim Long will officiate. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Evangelical Church, 3601 Fulton Mill Road, Macon 31206 or Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
