James “Jimmy” Abbott Stinson, Sr., 85, of Gray, GA, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, 11:00 a.m., Friday March 3, 2023, with the Reverend Steve Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Riverside Cemetery. The family may be contacted after the service at 218 R.L. Wheeler Rd, Macon, GA 31211.
Son of the late Charles and Margaret Abbott Stinson, Mr. Stinson was a graduate of Lanier High School and a past member of Northridge Baptist Church. He was a Mason, Shriner, and a jester. For many years he was a member of the Holiday Ramblers. Mr. Stinson was a former national champion in the Fast Draw Shooting Competition. Mr. Stinson was the owner of Stinson Heating and Air from 1955 until 1989.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Stinson.
Mr. Stinson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sally Stinson of Gray; children, Terri Stinson Parrish (Mark) of Gray, Janet Stinson Copeland (Doyle) of Byron, Georgia, James Abbott Stinson, Jr. (Veronica) of Macon, and Sallie Stinson Moskaly (Thomas) of Macon; grandchildren, Jamie Bookout, Trey Bennett (Jamie), Christopher Moskaly, and Justin Stinson; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Billy Stinson; sister, Charlene Rogers (Charles); several nieces and nephews; and his beloved furbaby, Lulu.
