Jacob "Jake" Smith

Jake Smith passed away Monday, August 22, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM on Friday, August 26, 2016 in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with Sonny Seneker officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia at 3:00PM. Family will greet friends between 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Mr. Smith was born in Statesboro and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was in the concrete business for over 40 years working at Cornell-Young, Mathis-Atkins, Southern Aggregates, USA Ready Mix, and Cemex. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, grilling, and cheering on his favorite teams Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs. He was predeceased by his parents, Millege Therman Smith and Eva Mae Tankersley Smith; and three sisters, Betty McCullough, Jean Fail, and Dorothy Jones. Survivors include his loving wife, Marie Smith of Macon; three children, Jason Lansing of Florida, Jacob Clayton Smith (Kristen) of Decatur, Georgia, and Samantha Nicole Smith of Macon; granddaughter, Ava Grace Smith of Decatur; two sisters, Ann Martin of Florida and Joellen Wilson of Florida; and brother, Bill Smith (Vonice) of Lizella, Georgia.
