Jack Guerry Thomas, Sr.

Jack Guerry Thomas, Sr. passed away on March 28, 2026. He will be remembered as a fun loving, happy soul who doted on his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 25th at 12:30 pm at Hart’s Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:15 in the chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1071 Riverside Drive.

Jack, the son of the late Robert Owen Thomas Sr. and Margaret Donkel Thomas was born and raised in Macon. He married his high school sweetheart Katherine Moore and raised five children.

Jack had a career in the pharmaceutical industry until his retirement in 1993. He served in the Army National Guard Reserves from 1947 - 1980.

An avid car buff, Jack enjoyed restoring antique cars. He was active in several antique car groups around Macon and middle Georgia. Additional hobbies included collecting car emblems, tags, badges and other rare accessories related to antique cars of all early makes and models.

Macon was fortunate to have Jack and Katherine, who devoted years of research, compiling and publishing “Rose Hill”, a detailed list of over 15,000 burials in the 186 year old historic cemetery.

Jack is survived by a son Mike (Angela) Thomas of Juliette GA, three daughters, Margaret (Rick) Stolz of Suwanee GA, Marianne (Joel) Mann of Statham GA, Celia (Clark) Jernigan of Greenville SC, and Sharon Prosser, partner of his son, Guerry, as well as twelve grandchildren, Alex (Brandy) Thomas, Ian (Kirsten) Thomas, Jason (Kaylyn) Stolz, Jarad (Catherine) Stolz, Nick (Molly) Mann, Mike (Danielle) Mann, Taylor Mann, Cameron Jernigan (Isaac Hartman), Clark Elliott (Lauren) Jernigan, Katherine Jernigan (Lars Steier), Riley Jernigan (Katie Kema), Loisann Prosser and twelve great grandchildren, Reid, Roe, Nolan, Tillman, Andie, Oliver, Teddy, Holland, Ginny, Jamie, Bodhi and Max.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Katherine Moore Thomas, their son, Jack Guerry Thomas, Jr, and a brother, Robert Owen Thomas, Jr.

The family would like to thank the community of Hilltop of Greenville for loving Jack so well and taking excellent care of him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Jack’s favorite charities, Rose Hill Preservation and Restoration, The Cannonball House, Historic Macon Foundation, SCV camp 18.
