Jack Melton Owens

Macon- Jack Melton Owens, 82, died Sunday, June 13, 2010. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverends Stephen Byrd and Charles Carter officiating. Burial will be in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary. Mr. Owens was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He hosted a children's show, The Jack and Jolly Show, on WMAZ for several years. Mr. Owens was predeceased by his parents, J. Walter Owens, Sr. and Annie Bell Owens, and his brother, J. Walter Owens, Jr. Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Betty J. Owens of Macon; children, Larry C. Owens (Carole) of Jupiter, Florida, Sheila M. Byrd (Steve) of Jeffersonville, Georgia, Tina G. Housman (Randy) of Jackson, Tennessee, Nora Paul (Bruce) of Macon and Dave Owens (Cindy) of Bremen, Georgia; sister, Eloise Larmore (Bill) of Marietta, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
