Lizella- John Joseph "Jack" Barringer, Jr., 92, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 23, 2009, at 2:00PM, in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola with the Reverends Don Hendrix and Shannon Back officiating. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until 6:00PM, Sunday February 22, 2009, at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Senior Friends at the Coliseum Medical Center. The family may be contacted at 6182 Dove Drive in Lizella.
Mr. Barringer was a member Riverside United Methodist Church and a former member of Tattnall Square Presbyterian Church. He was a former resident of John Wesley Villas where he was the Honorary Mayor of Foxworth. Mr. Barringer was most recently a resident of Summer's Landing in Warner Robins. Mr. Barringer was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award in May of 2001 by the Senior Friends at the Coliseum Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Frances M. Barringer and his parents, John and Mable Barringer, Sr. Mr. Barringer was also preceded in death by his brother, Bob Barringer of Canada.
Survivors: Son, John Joseph Barringer, III of Athens; Son, Douglas A. "Alex" Barringer of Macon; Son, Robert M. Barringer (Margie) of Bonaire; Daughter, Connie B. Teselle (John) of Lizella; Daughter, Nancy R. Barringer of Jeffersonville; Sister, Joan Aten of California; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; very special niece, Brenda Cooper of Canada, and his brother in law and sister in law, Richard and Jewel McAllister.
