J. Milton Heard, Iii

J. Milton Heard, III, 85, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Hart’s at the Cupola. A private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31204.

Mr. Heard was born in Macon on August 28, 1939, to the late Jacob Milton Heard, Jr. and Kathryn Wingate Moate Heard. He was a 1957 graduate of Lanier High School, where he was a member of his high school golf team.  He graduated from the University of Georgia where he was an active member of Phi Delta Theta.

Mr. Heard honorably served his country as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force with a three-year deployment in Turkey.  He was the former, respected owner of Hart's Mortuary, providing unwavering support and comfort to many families. He was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and served as past Vice-Chairman of the Macon-Bibb County Hospital Authority, Director of Georgia Bank and Bank South Macon, and as a past President of the Macon Civic Club.

Milton is survived his daughter, Kathryn Heard Rogers of Augusta, Georgia; sons, Milton Heard (Laura) and Michael Heard (Terrie), both of Macon; grandchildren: Jake Rogers, Sally Rogers, Amy Kathryn Heard, Harrison Aulds, Hayden Aulds, Micky Baca (Carla), and Matthew Baca (Jamie O’Donnell); and great-grandchildren, Ragan and Michael Baca.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Heard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Miles Dowling Heard.
