Iris Smith Williamson, 88, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home Monday, June 26, 2023.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1st, 2023, at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Peavy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Daughter of the late Luther Norris Smith and Ester Hollar Smith, Iris was born in Girard, Alabama on May 20, 1935. She graduated from Central High School in Phoenix City, Alabama, and shortly afterwards married Joe Williamson.  They were stationed in Germany and then returned to Phoenix City to start a family. Later they lived in Rome, Georgia for two years before moving to Macon, Georgia in 1966, where she and Joe raised their family. She worked as a legal secretary and retired from Jones, Cork and Miller Law Firm.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Stan Williamson (Sandra) and Drew Williamson (Summer); granddaughter, Ashley Williamson; and grandsons, Colton Williamson, and Carson Williamson, due August 2023.

In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Monroe Williamson; brother, Norris Smith; and grandson, Jonathan Williamson.
