Irene Bennett Messmer

Macon- Irene Bennett Messmer, 86, died Monday, April 6, 2009. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 1:00PM at Riverside Cemetery (North Gate). The Reverend Paul Creech will officiate. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Mrs. Messmer, daughter of the late John S. Beasley and the late Ida Lou Towns Beasley, was a member of Cross Keys Baptist Church. She was retired from Bearings and Drives and was a school crossing guard for many years. She was predeceased by her husbands, Chandler R. Bennett, the father of her daughter, and Leroy Messmer, five brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Messmer is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Jerry Stocks, of Macon; grandchildren, Mandy Stocks and Marie Stocks, both of Macon; great-grandchild, Amber Thompson of Macon; several nieces and nephews.
