Hugh J. Byrd, Sr.

Macon-Hugh J. Byrd, Sr. died Friday, November 12, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00AM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. Burial is private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, Georgia Chapter, 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, GA 30329. Mr. Byrd was born on April 2, 1923 in Reynolds, GA. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church (formerly Cherokee Baptist). He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion VFW, Eagles, and Shriners. Mr. Byrd was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during WWII. He retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a devoted husband and father. Survivors include his three sons, Hugh J. Byrd, Jr. of Florida, Joseph D. Byrd of Macon, and Jeffrey H. Byrd of Florida.
