Howard J. Uptagrafft, 80, of Macon, passed away September 25, 2017. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rob Robinson and Reverend Len Woodard officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Mr. Uptagrafft moved to Macon in 1946 and was a 1957 graduate of Lanier High School. He attended Thomaston Road Church of Christ for 71 years. He served 23 ½ years in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a retired master plumber and welder for Brown and Williamson. Mr. Uptagrafft was the son of the late Johnny W. and Maggie Mae Stone Uptagrafft and the son-in-law of the late Edward and Dorothy Ellis. He is predeceased by his son, Howard Todd Uptagrafft. Mr. Uptagrafft is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fonda Uptagrafft; daughters, Dorothy Devenney and Roxanne Oppy (McLain); grandchildren, Elizabeth Selman, Forrest Selman, Constance Sermons, and Hayden Sermons, all of Macon; brothers, Herbert Uptagrafft, of Canton, Ohio, Lamar Uptagrafft (Dianna), of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and LaVon Uptagrafft (Jane), of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and 10 nieces and nephews.
