H. L. "Joe" Webb, 69, of Macon, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 - on his birthday - after a long illness. Services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Joe was born at home in Adrian Georgia but resided in Macon and Atlanta for most of his life. He worked with Southern Bell - starting as a linesman and retiring as a sales manager after over 30 years of service. He was quick-witted, well-read, and loved a good laugh - especially with friends and family. Music was always central to his life, from bluegrass to folk, blues to country. He could pick and sing like no other and seemed happiest when sharing music with his friends, playing "pass the guitar". Mr. Webb is survived by his sons, James Andrew Webb of Jeffersonville, Larry Edward Webb of Gray, and Dr. Charles Nathan Webb of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Travis Neal Webb and Arlo Hulan Webb; sister, Jan Rachels of Byron. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
