Henry C. Pike

Henry C. Pike, 76, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle with diabetes. A chapel service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, July 10, 2016 in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon. The family will greet friends from 1 P.M. until service time. Mr. Al Andrews will officiate. Interment with military honors will be at 4 P.M. in the Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Twiggs County. Henry was born in San Antonio, Florida, which he called "the greatest place on earth." He was raised by his grandparents Margaret and Claude Pike whom he called mom and dad. Henry graduated from Valdosta High School. After high school, Henry joined the United States Army and was a paratrooper assigned to the 101st Airborne Division based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad where he worked as a train conductor. One of Henry's greatest loves was college football. Throughout his life, Henry was known as a person who was a giver and never wanted anything for himself. Henry is survived by his wife Kay, whom he said was the most important thing in his life for 36 years; children Johnny (Judy) Pike of Hahira, Georgia, Sonya (Chuck) Mayne of Lake Park, Georgia, and Gail (Michael) West of Macon; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his brother Cliff Pike of Zephyrhills, Florida.
