Helen Johnson Robertson

Helen Johnson Robertson 92, of Winston Salem, NC passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013 at Salemtowne Retirement Community. Funeral services and a Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Vineville United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday, February 8, 2013 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Born in Ashburn,GA August 27, 1920 she was preceded in death by her husband George Herman Robertson and son George Anthony (Tony) Robertson. Mrs. Robertson was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. She loved flowers and was a member of the Northwoods Garden Club. Her career began at Southern Bell as a long distance operator. After the birth of her children she later worked for Bibb Manufacturing Company as a receptionist. She left Macon in 2001 to be with her two sons in Winston Salem, NC. Her joys were her family, friends and watching the many bird varieties at her feeders. She also volunteered for the Volger Gift Shop on campus at Salemtowne. Her friends and family looked forward to Christmas and her famous Party Mix she painstakingly made. A loving spirit and kind nature drew people to her naturally. Her open heart and generosity will be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her son Bill Robertson, his partner Reid Nifong, nieces Kathy Cormack and Dr. Jane Westerfield, nephew Lewis Robertson and their families. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the caring and compassionate staff of Salemtowne Retirement Community. We also wish to thank Hospice for their support during her last days.
