Helen Young Greene

Helen Young Greene, 91, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola. Reverend Andy Oxford will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Helen Greene may be made to Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church, 939 Wesleyan Drive, Macon, Georgia 31210, to Mt. Zion Baptist Church at www.mtzionmacon.com or to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

Helen was born on September 15, 1932, in Youngstown, Florida, to the late Howell Hardiman Young and Jessie Lois Howard Young. She never met a stranger and lived by the motto “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.” She was easy to talk to and would carry on a conversation with anyone. While she suffered the loss of three children during her lifetime, she was always positive and kind. Her three loves of her life were her church, her family, and traveling. Helen was a long-time member of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church. She was loved by her family and friends very much, and she will be missed dearly.

Helen is survived by her children, Ronnie Greene, David Greene (Linda), Lynn Spring (Tony), Scott Greene, and Robert Greene (Beth); her daughter-in-Law Linda Yamber; her grandchildren, Courtney Yamber, Ron Greene (Kristen), VeRelle Fuller (Ricky), Brooks Greene (Kelly), Dave Greene, Sam Spring, Allie Spring, Evan Greene, Ruby Greene, Brandon Greene (Andie) Megan Mullis (Grant) and Sarah Greene; her four great grandchildren, Carlie and Rylee Greene, Lorelai Greene and Jackson Mullis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brooks Greene; her sons, William Yamber and Kerry Greene; her daughter, Debra Greene; her daughter-in-law, Carol Greene; and four brothers and their spouses.

The family would like to thank Veronica DeShazier, Sallie Gary, Rosa McElroy, and Sharon Sutton for their years of devoted care and support of their mom.
